The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham is a London borough in East London, England. It lies about 9 miles (14.4 km) east of Central London. The borough was formed in 1965 by the London Government Act 1963 as the London Borough of Barking. The constituent parts were nearly all of the Municipal Borough of Barking as well as the largest part of the Municipal Borough of Dagenham, the former area of which was transferred to Greater London from Essex. It's an Outer London borough and the south is within the London Riverside part of the Thames Gateway, which is an region designated as a national priority for urban regeneration. It covers a total area of 13.93 square miles. As outlined by the 2011 census, the area has a population of around 198294, the majority of which reside within the Becontree estate. Much of the housing in the borough was constructed by the London County Council through the interwar period of 1921-1939. Significant settlement of the area, mainly escaping slum conditions within the East End of London, occurred throughout this time when the new motor and chemical industries, such as the Ford Motor Company plant at Dagenham were established. Since the decline of those industries during the 1980s, employment has shifted more towards service sector jobs. A lot of the borough is inside the London Riverside area of the Thames Gateway zone and it's the site of considerable property building and other improvement. The local authority is Barking and Dagenham London Borough Council. Barking and Dagenham was 1 of six London boroughs to host the 2012 Summer Olympics. How Much To Remove Asbestos Garage Roof?
Asbestos is a hazardous material that was commonly used before the 1990’s as a popular material for both insulation and construction. Due to the oversight form authoritative boards, this harmful material was not identified as such during the time it was being incorporated. Ever since this period, many studies are now on ground to prove that asbestos fibres can lead to several health conditions like lung cancer and mesothelioma. Hence, the need to have it removed as soon as possible if discovered in your house because the longer your exposure to the dangerous asbestos fibres, the more harmful it becomes. Due to the danger involved, asbestos removal is strongly recommended to be carried out by a seasoned specialist.
The cost of asbestos garage roof removal is based on a plethora of influencing factors such as the size of the garage, the accessibility, the location of the garage, if the material is damaged, if the fixing is to the timber or steel supporting structures as well as other factors like boundary disputes or neighbouring properties. As a result, when hiring a specialist, it is vital for the asbestos removal professional to fully understand the works required as well as its various unique features prior to visiting the site. This is due to the fact that the more the information they are given, the easier it becomes to come up with a reasonable price for the asbestos removal project.
The average cost of removing asbestos garage roof is within the range of £650 to £1000 ( VAT inclusive). It should be noted that this is just a rough estimate. For a more accurate asbestos garage roof cost estimate, you’d have to call in a reliable professional for a quote.
How To Dispose Of Asbestos?
As a homeowner, you certainly wouldn’t like to the word “asbestos” and understandably so. Due to its extremely dangerous fibres, the material was banned in the UK since 1999 and any structure built with it will be heavily fined. However, if you’re presently doing some home improvement project or buying a property that was built before the year 2000, then a chance exists that the property could contain asbestos. So if you’re unlucky to discover asbestos in your property, getting rid of it can be quite simple if you know way around it. In this article, we’ll provide you with some tips on how to dispose of asbestos in your property. Let’s take a closer look!
✓ Careful Handling
If you happen to find asbestos in your property the best thing to do is to call in a reliable specialist who has the proper training and equipment to tackle the project. However, if you decide to handle it yourself, then it’s a must to do this with great care. For instance wearing safety gloves, dust mask, safety goggles and placement of asbestos into plastic bags would be a great idea.
✓ Take It To The Tip By Yourself
To save some money if you have access to a vehicle, then loading the bagged asbestos into your car and driving it to the nearest local tip would be a simple and cost effective alternative. However, you should check with your local authorities before attempting this.
✓ Use A Specialist
Hiring a professional asbestos removal contractor is simply the best way to dispose of asbestos. Their services may be a bit expensive, but they cover up for that in both speed and effectiveness.
✓ Use Your Council’s Asbestos Collection Service
Several councils off this services at a reduced cost. However, they are usually not as quick as a specialist contractor.
If you’re thinking about having your asbestos removed, you have two options - either you take on the project yourself or you call in a reliable professional for help. If you do not have enough time on your plate or perhaps you’re not confident enough to carry out this project on your own, then you’d have to reach out to an expert and of course, it comes with a cost.
The cost of removing asbestos is, however, not fixed as it depends on many factors. These factors works to decrease or increase the cost of removing asbestos. The factors include the type of asbestos material that needs to be removed, if the material can be encapsulated rather than removed, if the material has been sampled and tested, the location where the works would be carried out, size of the area, the accessibility of the asbestos, if other sites users or neighbours will be affected as well as the type of the building be it residential, commercial, industrial.
With a plethora of important things to put into consideration, it’s therefore essential to call in a qualified, competent and professional asbestos removal company to provide a reasonable quote for your unique project. Generally, in the UK, you can expect to pay the approximate cost of around £1000 or less for smaller areas. However, for larger areas the cost of removing such an asbestos will cost you considerably more. The cost can be within the range of £2500 and above in the UK.
These prices may seem high at first but its definitely worth it when you look at it’s possible effect on the health of you and your loved ones.
Many examples of asbestos will not need removing, for example if it is present in artex that is in good condition. However, if you are carrying out building work on or near the asbestos it should be carefully removed before the building work starts to make sure it is not accidentally disturbed.
