Artificial Grass in Ascot

Artificial grass is a great alternative choice to a natural lawn. It calls for very little maintenance as you will not have to mow it or deal with mud during the winter. Today, artificial grass comprises of fibres and infills of a mixture of sand and granules of recycled rubber. They have frequently been made use of in industrial conditions, however they are becoming increasingly well-liked in people’s properties. You are able to lay artificial grass on practically any surface, regardless of whether it's flat or sloping. It's safe for children and pets, plus it drains like genuine grass so you won’t end up with puddles. It’s environmentally friendly as you won’t need to water it and there's no need to treat it with pesticides or feeds. You should get up to 20 years out of your artificial grass with no maintenance and hassle. It will not fade or flatten with time, and it will retain its colour right until the end of its life. In case you need a local pro to lay artificial grass for you, simply fill out the form and we’ll put you in contact with up to 4 contractors who will provide you with a no cost, no obligation quote.

Ascot

Ascot is an affluent small town in the eastern region of the English county of Berkshire. It is positioned six miles (9.7 kilometres) south of Windsor, four miles (6.4 kilometres) east of Bracknell and 25 miles (40 kilometres) west of London. The town consists of 3 locations: Ascot itself, North Ascot and South Ascot. Based on the 2001 Census, Ascot has a resident population of approximately 11603. The town is most famous for being the place of Ascot Racecourse, home of the famed Royal Ascot meeting. Held each year in June, Royal Ascot is one of the world's most famous race meetings, steeped in history which dates back to 1711. The royal family members attend the meeting, arriving every day in a horse-drawn carriage, and it continues to be a significant event in the British social calendar. Lots of the amenities are related to the racecourse, but there's a variety of shops in the wide High Street. These consist of a supermarket, petrol station and numerous cafes. The vast majority of buildings are dated from the immediate post-war period with flats above the ground floor retail space. Heatherwood Hospital, the filming location for 'Carry on Matron', was at the western edge of the town. Ascot boasts a station on a bi-section of the railway line from London's Waterloo station to Reading, Bagshot, Aldershot and Guildford, originally constructed by the London and South Western Railway and now run by South West Trains. As a result of the effective and frequent service on this line, Ascot has developed into a commuter centre with its residents travelling westwards to Reading and eastwards to London. For all of your house renovation, ensure that you utilise trustworthy experts in Ascot to ensure that you get the most effective quality service.

FAQs

Does artifical grass get hot?

On a hot summer’s day, we often seek our garden lawn as a cooling place to sit and get some relief from the sun. However, since artificial grass is made from plastic, lots of people ask whether it gets hot, or whether it stays like natural grass. The answer is, it’s somewhere in between.

Of course, we all know to stay in the shade in midday sun and this is when your artificial grass will be at its hottest. Unless it is an extremely hot say and your lawn is in direct sunlight, you should still be able to walk on your artificial grass. The best thing to do is test it using the back of your hand before anyone walks over it with bare feet or children go to play on it.

In the shade, artificial grass should always maintain a cool temperature, although it will never have that refreshing feel of cold grass on a hot day. It will also cool down extremely quickly as the day goes on, so if your grass does get too hot it shouldn’t be unusable for too long.

Artificial grass has to meet high safety standards and most are UV stabilised, which means that they can withstand high temperatures without melting or getting extremely hot. It’s worth remembering that hot countries like Dubai use artificial grass, so the occasional hot day in a British summer should be enough for artificial grass to handle!

Can you hoover artificial grass?
While you might see some people hoovering their artificial grass, it’s not recommended. Using a household vacuum cleaner on your artificial grass could suck up and remove the blades of grass, creating patches and making it look as bad as a balding natural lawn. Also, artificial grass blades are made from tough plastics like nylon and polyurethane. The blades could easily clog up your hoover and damage it, so it’s best to steer clear of using it to clean your artificial turf. What can I use instead of a vacuum cleaner? A good old rake or broom can get rid of leaves and debris from your artificial grass, but you may miss smaller pieces like pet hair or sand and gravel. If you have a leaf blower, you can use this on a low setting – but be careful as you could blow away the sand infill that keep your artificial lawn looking springy and fresh. Luckily, there are artificial lawn power brooms available to buy, and this could be a good option over hoovering your artificial grass. They are electrically powered brushes that push away dirt rather than sucking it up, and they can even plump your lawn to keep it looking at its best. Even if you don’t hoover your artificial grass, it’s still likely that over time some sand infill will get carried away. To keep your lawn bouncy, ask your installer to top up the sand every now and again or have a go at doing it yourself.
How to cut artificial grass?
When you’re laying artificial grass, it’s pretty hard to not get some wastage somewhere. Whether you’re laying it up against a hard edge like decking or a patio or you’re fitting the artificial grass right up to a fence or wall, you’re probably going to have to cut it somewhere. So how do you do it without damaging the artificial grass?
  1. If you’re cutting artificial grass at a fence or wall, fold over the turf so you can see where the backing material meets the edge.
  2. Using a very sharp pen knife, cut the backing material into the perimeter, using it to guide the blade.
  3. Push the artificial grass back against fence or wall and check that you’ve cut away enough. It’s always best to err on the side of caution and cut less to begin with.
  4. When you’re happy, brush the pile to make it look natural.
Cutting up to a patio or decking If you’re installing artificial grass up to a patio or garden edge, you can use a pen knife to cut away just the outer tuft and the factory edge – that's the part of the backing material with no blades of grass attached to it. Cutting artificial grass to prepare for a seam If you’re cutting a piece of artificial grass to make a seam to join it to another piece, use your pen knife to cut away the outer 3 tufts and the factory edge. Top tip: Make sure you use a good quality, new and sharp blade to cut your artificial grass to get a nice clean cut and avoid fraying the edges of the backing material.
How to join artificial grass?
If you’re covering a larger area with artificial grass, you may need to join sections together. You can do this using self-adhesive joining tape, or joining tape and a separate adhesive. Steps to join artificial grass
  1. Unroll your two pieces of artificial grass, ensuring that the pile is running in the same direction. Fold over each piece by about 300m.
  2. To get the perfect seam, cut at least 3 tufts back, ensuring that you don’t trim any grass blades.
  3. Either remove the backing on your self-adhesive tape and unroll it down the centre of the join, or roll it out ensuring that the shiny side is down then fix at either end with adhesive.
  4. Fold over the grass onto the tape and bring each piece together, ensuring there’s a 2-3mm gap at the seam.
  5. Where the pile runs over the edge of the seam, fold over the artificial grass.
  6. Apply a small amount of adhesive under the edge of the first section of grass with a mastic gun, then add some to the front edge to stick the second piece.
  7. Bring the seam together, ensuring that you don’t get any grass blades stuck. Place a plank with some heavy objects on over the join to ensure that it dries securely.
It’s not that difficult to join artificial grass, but if you have any doubt leave it to the professionals. Get in touch with a few artificial grass companies who will be able to tell you how much it will cost to lay artificial turf for you.
