Alva is a small village in Clackmannanshire, set in the Central Lowlands of Scotland. It is just one of a variety of villages located instantly to the south of the Ochil Hills, collectively known as the Hillfoots Towns or simply The Hillfoots. It lies between Tillicoultry and Menstrie. Alva had a resident population of 5,181 at the 2001 census but this has given that been modified to 4,960 in 2006. Alva was historically in an exclave of Stirlingshire, however it was moved to Clackmannanshire in 1891.
