Barnehurst is a town and district in South East London within the London Borough of Bexley. It's north east of Bexleyheath, and is 13 miles east south-east of Charing Cross. It is separated from North Bexleyheath by the A220 Erith Road.
The town was established after the sale of land in 1881 to create the Bexleyheath loop line between Lewisham and Dartford. Its name derives from the name of the railway station, which was named after Colonel Barne, who owned a local house and was vice-chairman of the railway company. Currently, the railway station runs trains between London Charing Cross, London Victoria or London Cannon Street, by means of Lewisham and Eltham towards the west and Dartford railway station towards the east. There are 12 trains each hour during the week; on Sundays, there are four trains per hour. The railway station was openedto stimulate the creation of homes. The Barnehurst Estate was constructed in 1926 which housed many individuals.
Along with the railway station, Barnehurst is served by five buses, 1 of which goes to the well-liked Bluewater Shopping Centre. There are not many purchasing or leisure opportunities within the town, so individuals normally go to surrounding areas working with public transport links or the main roads.
Barnehurst is property for the non-league football club Phoenix Sports FC, which plays at Phoenimx Sports Ground.
