Andrew Keir - Chartered Architect
Bloomfield, Banchory, AB31 6LYAndrew Keir - Chartered Architect Company description
I am an Architect with 25 years’ experience. I trained at Robert Gordon University and completed my professional qualifications in 1990. Since graduating I have amassed an extensive and diverse professional experience across a wide range and scale of project types.
This included time at E.C Riach in Glasgow where I was involved in tenement rehabilitation; ARA Architects in Exmouth, Devon where the work involved housing and commercial projects relating to the tourist industry; and the offices of Sasha Ivanovich and Interpacific Consultants in Western Australia where the work ranged from hotel work to bespoke housing to multi-billion dollar projects in developing China. Finally In 1996 I returned to my home country and worked in a busy Aberdeenshire based practice gaining very good local experience of all types of work eventually becoming a partner and then in 2011 I became a Sole practitioner.
Private housing and extensions are the mainstay project type carried out in the practice. As increasing pressure is placed upon us to increase the efficiency of the buildings we live in, I’ve gained good experience in providing very eco-friendly housing and in 2014 I gained an Aberdeenshire Council Design Award in the “Sustainability” category for a new private house.
Other Non-domestic work has consisted of various agricultural buildings, work related to Horseback UK which is supported by Help for Heroes, An office building for GCG Shotblasting, and the ever popular “Rocksalt and Snails” Café bar in Ballater. I have also been involved in producing state of the art Veterinary surgeries in the past and currently since becoming sole practitioner I am working on my fourth community hall refurbishment at Udny Green following on from Halls/Community Centres at Nethy Bridge, Logie Coldstone and The MacRobert Hall in Tarland. I find these projects extremely rewarding as it touches many lives.
I believe in treating any sized project with equal importance and like to think I provide a full and friendly service.
From the initial friendly chat with a new client my services include working closely with my client to generate something which is hopefully better than they had expected. Once the design is finalised and my client is
entirely happy, Local Authority approvals would be obtained as required. Following that would be the provision of a professional, impartial tender stage in order to enable construction to the highest possible standards expected via the final contract administration stage.
If you are thinking of starting a project, please feel free to call for a chat.
